Literary Festivals

Need a break from studying?  Do you like books, music, food, or art? If so, there are two upcoming LA-area literary festivals offering just these things.  Best of all ,it’s all free (mostly).

Yallwest (Saturday, April 11 – Sunday, April 12)

First up is Yallwest, a celebration of young adult literature.  Yallwest features two days of panels, book signing, food trucks, music, and “general geeky debauchery.”  Yallwest will be held on the campus of Santa Monica High School on Saturday, April 11th and at the main branch of Santa Monica Public Library on Sunday, April 12th.  Bring your kids or just yourself.

Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (Saturday, April 18 – Sunday, April 19)

The Festival of Books is back for another year of fun!  There will be live music, author talks and signings, poetry readings, food trucks, art, and of course, books.  Comic books, cook books, travel books, children’s books, fiction, non-fiction – with several dozens of exhibitors you’re bound to find something that interests you.

The Festival of Books will be held on the campus of the University of Southern California on Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th.

Attendance at both Yallwest and the Festival of Books is free, though there are a limited number of ticketed events.  There is also limited free street parking at both events.  Visit the event links for more information.
