Jeff Baker named to ABA Military & Veterans Health Law Task Force

May 24, 2016 — Professor Jeffrey R. Baker has been named to the ABA Military & Veterans Health Law Task Force. Along with Pepperdine Law’s Veterans Law Practicum partners, Baker will help expand discussions about exporting Pepperdine Law’s model of experiential learning and improved access to justice for veterans.

About the ABA Military & Veterans Health Law Task Force:

The Military & Veterans Health Law Task Force encompasses all areas of health law pertaining to active military and veterans with a particular focus on collaboration with the ABA’s Military Pro Bono Center and the ABA Veterans’ Claims Assistance Network (VCAN) which provide legal assistance in eight areas of Civil Law.

The Military & Veterans Health Law Task Force also serves as a resource to Law School Veterans Clinics by providing a mechanism for sharing best practices, recent trends, proposed and new regulations and agency mandates, documents, policies, protocols and forms, implementation of laws and regulations, and content expertise.

Veterans Law Practicum (Ventura):

Selected students work in the Ventura County Public Defender’s Office to serve veterans in the Veterans Treatment Court and other collaborative courts of the Ventura County Superior Court.

Veterans Law Practicum (Los Angeles)

Selected students work with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County in its Veterans Empowerment Initiative in the San Fernando Valley to provide legal services to veterans in need within integrated, multidisciplinary collaborations with other service providers.
