Johnny Cash and a Soldier’s Perspective of the Korean War

You already know Pepperdine has much to offer: an excellent education, a caring community, and beautiful scenery, to name a few of its outstanding qualities.  Here’s another thing to add to the list: opportunities to see great performances and visual arts.  Periodically on this blog we will highlight upcoming and current artistic events on campus.

Two artistic events that might interest you are:

Johnny Cash in Black and White: Photos from the Leigh Wiener Collection

Taken by award winning photographer Leigh Wiener over the course of four sessions he had with Cash, these photos include intimate portraits and never-before-seen photos of the Man in Black.

Images of the Korean War: One Soldier’s Perspective

Selected from a collection donated by Hanson Williams Jr., a 1950 Pepperdine graduate who attended the university on a photography scholarship, these photos are a visual diary of Williams’ journey from basic training to his time in Korea.  They include fascinating glimpses captured during the spare time Williams spent in remote villages.
