August 15, 2018 | Pepperdine University is proud to announce that the American Legion Palisades Post 283 has made a generous gift of $50,000 to support student veterans in need of financial assistance at Pepperdine Law.
Over the last several years, it has been widely recognized that veterans of the United States Armed Forces are in need of financial assistance beyond the Montgomery GI Bill and other government programs in order to fulfill their educational goals. In order to address this need, veterans advocacy groups have been stepping up to the plate to ensure that their fellow veterans are adequately supported and to assist them on their journey from military life to civilian life. To this end, the American Legion Palisades Post 283 in Pacific Palisades, California, under the leadership of Commander Jere Romano, has directed $50,000 to support the legal education of 10 veterans at $5,000 per student, per school year.
“This is our way of assisting our local brothers and sisters in arms at Pepperdine Law to reach their professional goals,” stated Noe Aguirre, 1st Vice Commander at Post 283, Iraq veteran, and former Marine Sergeant.
