Conflict Resolution Trainer/Mediator

This is a 20 hours per week, per-diem, non-exempt position at Loyola Law School’s Center for Conflict Resolution.

Position Summary:

To provide community training alongside the Director and Associate Director of the Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution

Position Specific Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trainer for offsite community mediation trainings as needed.

• Prepare and coordinate training materials and presentation with the Director and Associate Director of Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution.

• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The Law School reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Experience Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 5 years community mediation experience that meets the Dispute Resolution Programs Act requirements. Must have experience as a trainer in conflict resolution training that meets the Dispute Resolution Programs Act statutes (experience with large group training preferred). Experience working with people who are upset (e.g., crying or angry) preferably in a community and/or court program.

Knowledge and Skills
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral). Demonstrated administrative, organizational and leadership skills. Able to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and administrators, etc. Effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups. Demonstrated commitment to community service. Effective interpersonal and communication skills to create successful partnerships with faculty, students, staff and external groups. Ability to analyze, assess, evaluate, identify problem and take initiative to resolve. Interpretation of applicable laws, policies and principles, etc. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines, often with competing priorities. Keen attention to detail. Computer competency with Microsoft Office suite and other relevant technology.

Required Education: Mediation trained under the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act is required. JD or advanced degree is preferred.
